Staying in Namba? Take Nankai. Tennoji, Shin-Osaka or Kyoto? Take JR HARUKA. Lots of luggage and no wish to change trains? Take the limousine bus. Fares and times are from each operator’s official site, checked on 26 October 2026. The HARUKA One-way Ticket for visitors went up on 1 November 2026: Tennoji ¥1,600, Osaka and Shin-Osaka ¥1,900, Kyoto ¥2,700.

| Kyoto | JR HARUKA | about 75 min | ¥2,700 |

HARUKA One-way Ticket price rose on 1 November
JR West’s HARUKA One-way Ticket for visitors went up for tickets bought from 1 November 2026: Tennoji ¥1,300 → ¥1,600, Osaka and Shin-Osaka ¥1,800 → ¥1,900, Kyoto ¥2,200 → ¥2,700. The price depends on when you buy, so tickets bought by 31 October can still be used; e-tickets bought from a travel agency outside Japan must be exchanged within 3 months. Buy: HARUKA One-way Ticket on Klook. Travel agency prices can differ from JR’s, so check the amount before you pay.
JR HARUKA fares and times
| Station | Time | Before the rise (bought by 31 October) | Current visitor one-way ticket (from 1 November, in effect) | Regular ticket (non-reserved) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tennoji | 35 min | ¥1,300 | ¥1,600 | ¥1,820 |
| Osaka | 45 min | ¥1,800 | ¥1,900 | ¥2,380 |
| Shin-Osaka | 50 min | ¥1,800 | ¥1,900 | ¥2,540 |
| Kyoto | about 75 min | ¥2,200 | ¥2,700 | ¥3,060 |
How to buy and ride with the HARUKA One-way Ticket
The one-way ticket is only for travellers with a foreign passport who entered Japan as Temporary Visitors, and it is not sold inside Japan. Buy an e-ticket from a travel agency outside Japan (Klook, KKday and others) and exchange it at the JR ticket office or a green ticket machine at Kansai Airport Station, or book it on JR West’s own JR-WEST ONLINE TRAIN RESERVATION and pick it up there.
The ticket is valid for non-reserved seats, and you can also reserve a seat, but you cannot get off on the way. HARUKA runs about every 30 min; in the October 2026 timetable the first leaves Kansai Airport at 6:31 and the last at 22:16. At Osaka Station it stops at the new underground Umekita platforms, so allow a few extra minutes to walk to the Central Exit.
The once-popular ICOCA & HARUKA set is no longer sold on JR West’s site. If you want a transit card, buy an ICOCA separately (¥2,000 including a ¥500 deposit), or add Suica or ICOCA to the Wallet app on an iPhone.

Nankai: the fastest and cheapest to Namba
The rapi:t limited express reaches Namba from Kansai Airport in as little as 34 min, about every 30 min, all seats reserved. Nankai raised its limited express charge on 1 April 2026: a regular seat costs ¥1,670 in total at the window, or ¥1,520 with the Nankai member Ticketless service; the rapi:t Digital Ticket on Nankai’s site is just ¥1,410 including the fare, for a chosen date. The ¥1,490 you see on many sites is the old price.
If you are not in a hurry, the Airport Express costs only ¥970 and reaches Namba in about 44 min, 3 to 4 trains an hour, with no limited express charge; just tap Suica or ICOCA. It stops at Shin-Imamiya (change for the JR Loop Line) and Tengachaya (change for the Sakaisuji subway line).
Useful before you fly
Airport transfer when you have a lot of shopping bags
Luggage storage in Tokyo for the hours before an evening flight
Kansai Airport limousine buses
| Destination | Time | Adult one way | Round trip (within 14 days) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Osaka Station (Umeda) | about 60 min | ¥1,800 | ¥3,300 |
| Namba (OCAT) | about 50 min | ¥1,400 | ¥2,500 |
| Kyoto Station Hachijo Exit | about 85–90 min | ¥2,800 | ¥5,100 |
| Universal Studios Japan | about 70 min | ¥1,800 | ¥3,300 |
The bus’s advantage: the driver puts your bags in the hold and you get off at your stop, with no stairs or transfer corridors to drag a suitcase through. To Umeda a bus leaves every 10 to 15 min, the last regular one around 23:45, and after that a late-night bus around 0:15 (cashless only). Kyoto buses are frequent too, about every 15 to 20 min. Buses stop at Terminal 2 first and reach Terminal 1 about 13 min later; the route to Tennoji Abeno Harukas is currently suspended. For tickets and live times see the Kansai Airport Transportation site, or search Klook and KKday for Kansai Airport buses and tickets.
Taxis and shared shuttles
A metered taxi costs about ¥24,400 to Umeda and about ¥43,150 to Kyoto Station including tolls, with a fifth more from 22:00 to 5:00. MK’s fixed-fare airport taxis are better value: from ¥16,400 to Umeda and from ¥23,800 to Kyoto Station, tolls extra, booked in advance. Travelling alone to Kyoto, take the shared Yasaka Airport Shuttle, ¥4,300 per person, booked by 15:00 the day before.
For a family or a group with big bags, compare Klook airport transfers: priced per car, with the driver waiting in the arrivals hall.
Going home: customs check first, then bag drop
For tax-free goods bought from 1 November 2026 you pay the tax-included price and get the tax back when you leave. Back at Kansai Airport, before you check in any bag, scan your passport at a customs tax-free kiosk to confirm that the goods leave Japan. HARUKA and Nankai both stop at Kansai Airport Station next to Terminal 1, so walk straight into Terminal 1. Kiosk locations: Kansai Airport tax refund guide.
